A long weekend of garden visiting brought to you in conjunction with Just for Groups!

Thursday

We will depart from Yeovil at 07.00hrs and head to Folkestone for the Eurotunnel crossing to France. On arrival there is time for a short visit to our first garden, the ‘Jardin de Beau Pays’ near Calais. We then continue to Amiens, capital of Picardy and check in to our 3*hotel, situated about 10mins walk from the Cathedral. There will be a group meal in the hotel on this evening.

Friday

As we are in the Somme region, no trip would be complete without acknowledgement of the history, so we include time at the Thiepval Visitor Centre and the impressive Lutyens’ war memorial. There is also a new garden art installation ‘Jardin de la Paix’ here. For lunch  we stop in Picardy’s “hidden pearl”, the small town of Doullens. Then in the afternoon we travel on to experience the spectacular gardens of Sericourt

Saturday

In the morning we will take a wonderful boat tour of Les Hortillonages – the ‘floating gardens’; the rest of the morning is free for you to explore the sights of Amiens: old quarter, Notre Dame Cathedral with its ‘crying angel’ or the house of Jules Verne perhaps. There is also a Saturday morning market in the Saint Leu old quarter. In the afternoon we take a short drive to visit the Jardin Moulin Ventin, which will be looking exceptionally splendid with its beautiful autumn colours

Sunday

Today we head out towards the coast, stopping at the small Ville of Long! There we visit the Chateau gardens, before travelling on to the lovely medieval town of St Valery-sur-Somme, with time for lunch in one of the many cafes, a visit the Herbarium et Fruticetum garden or walk along the picturesque waterside promenade. For the afternoon our garden visit is the Japanese inspired, Jardin de la LY, before returning to our hotel in Amiens

Monday

Time for our return journey, but not before stopping at Les Maison des Champs on route, and arriving in Yeovil approximately  20.30pm.
